Following a close 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Stanley-Boyd
Orioles on May 12, 1998, the Altoona Railroaders avenged an
earlier 4-3 loss by defeating the Fall Creek Crickets 3-0 at
home on May 14, 1998. The Railroaders did not lose another
conference game in 1998, and then went on to go undefeated in
conference play in the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003
seasons, before finally falling in their seventh game of the
2004 conference season, 4-3 at the hands of the Chippewa Falls
McDonell Macks, on April 29, 2004. In between, the Railroaders
compiled 78 consecutive Western Cloverbelt Conference victories
and claimed 5 Western Cloverbelt championships.
